NO: 03 JUn 06 Ejekt Festival - Athens, Greece

Recording (what made it) courtesy of TJ, remarkable for the sheer awfulness (according to him, not me!) of having inebreiated English cheering and singing along to the hits, plus the recording level is way too high, sounding distored.

Bernard says something about getting something which can't be made out.

_Love___Will___Tear___Us___Apart_

BS: "...a song about Joy Division. This is Love Will Tear Us Apart."

Recorder cuts off for a few seconds.

Bit of a discussion about SLC being next, which it's not. None of the other fan discussion/interaction/singing will be noted unless relevant.

BS: "Hey, is anyone from England here? Everyone. It's quite...quite a turn."

_Crystal_

BS: "Okay, this is Crystal."

_Regret_

BS: "Okay, is everyone having a good time so far? Okay, this is a song called Regret."

(at end)

BS: "Cheers, thanks a lot!"

_24___Hours_

BS: "Our next song, we're gonna hop back to Joy Division again, this is 24 Hours."

Bernard uses a more expressive voice than normal when singing some of the lyrics.

Lots of folks near the front call out for Sarge.

_Krafty_

BS: "Lower Hooky actually, Jerry. We're going to bring things bang up to date now. This is a tune on the ...new single...it's called Krafty."

"Next one wins the sweep", with Transmission being the odds on favorite.

BS: "Could have sworn it was out out of tune, must be out of playing it."

_Working___Overtime_

BS: "Okay, in the key of C, this is Working Overtime."

So much for winning...

_Transmission_ follows.

The tape cuts.

NO: 08 JUL 06 Summer Pops '06 - Big Top Arena Central Docks - Liverpool

Recording done by Schoff, an excellent-sounding one it is, too. NOOL should have plenty of info regarding the gig itself, suffice it to say that security was extra-tight, to the consternation of Hooky.

The inimitatable Alan Wise takes the stage...

AW: [coughs/laughs twice] "I've undone me fly, mother...(?) Ah, Liverpool! Liverpool. So much more beautiful than Manchester. [this is greeted with boos] Which is so ugly compared to Liverpool (somebody starts chanting 'Manchester la la la'). Still, being by the water, you could get hit by a tsunami. Do you know know what a tsunami is? Well, here's one you've been waiting for, your own tsunami from Manchester, the fabulous Four Tops!"

Fade out/in on recording.

Guitar strum.

_Love___Will___Tear___Us___Apart_

BS: "All right, Liverpool. Obviously, we're New Order. And I'm Bernard Sumner, and I'm just checking my on-stage sound, everything seems to be all right, this is Love Will Tear Us Apart."

Bernard flubs the second line, I guess he was having problems reading the autocue.

Hooky cries "Here we go, Steve" as he frequently does after the choruses.

BS: "Cheers, thank you! You know about what we're gonna start a set with."

PH: "Just want to say hello to Pete wylie. Glad that he's still alive almost."

_Crystal_

BS: "Okay, this is Crystal."

_Regret_

BS: "Cheers, thank you. Whoo! That's a great song to play live out. Ch...very else but g... [can't make out what he says here] I regret what you said, as it includes the next song, this is Regret.

Fans start shouting "Nu ordah" nearby...

_Twenty___Four___Hours_

Reverb on Bernard's vocals is pretty noticeable.

BS: "Cheers, thank you. That was obviously a song by Joy Division called 24 Hours, not 24 Hour Party People by the Happy Mondays, don't ever get confused. However, there's a lot of New Order fans here tonight, so just for them I'm going to play one or two New Order songs, this is Krafty."

New Order next play _Krafty_.

BS: "Cheers, thank you."

PH: "Hey, we realize that you boys in yellow, you boys in yellow have a got a tough job, but uh, chill out a bit, eh lads. Fuckin' hell! We're meant to be enjoying ourselves."

_Working___Overtime_

BS: "Okay, this is called Working Overtime. 1-2-3-4."

Already sounds an improvement over the LP version.

BS: "Cheers, thank you."

_Transmission_

BS: "Whoo! Okay, we're doing a few rocky ones at the start, I hope you like them. We never know with New Order whether we're getting a dance audience or a rock audience. So, being em, crowd pleasers we like to chuck in a few in of each. So we've just played all those rocky ones, guess what we're going to do now, we're going to play another rocky one, it's called Transmission."

Hooky's backing is pretty loud here.

BS: "Cheers, thank you." Third song in a row he says that.

Fans start shouting "Nu ordah" again...bit of a pause between tracks.

_Your___Silent___Face_

BS: "Whoa. Okay, for your sake as much as ours...as ours, we're going to slow things down a little bit now. If I wasn't knackered, it'd be all right...getting on a bit. All right, this is Your Silent Face.

Bernard plays melodica off-mic.

BS: "You could chill out a little bit to this one."

lyric: "A thought that never changes remains the worst time."

The singer lets the fans sing the "piss off" bit.

BS: "Cheers, thank you, it's one of my favorites. Didn't have to be hard, fast, and bum, bum, bum...in your face". Meanwhile Hooky starts humming to himself (which is why Bernard was doing 'bum bum bum', a weird little busk, that...but little does the listener suspect Hooky's about to blow his lid with respect to the security.

PH: "Hey, we have another complaint about you cunts in yellow. I think you're being intimidating, actually, and it's pissing me off. Right? So back off, for fuck's sake!! I'm watching it from up here, you know. I can see it, and as far as I'm concerned, it's YOU that's been starting it. One more and I'll fuck off, and then you deal with it, right?"

_Waiting___For___The___Sirens___Call_

BS: "This is Waiting For The Sirens' Call".

Pretty clear there's use of prerecorded vocals here, since you can hear Bernard singing along with himself.

BS: "Cheers, thank you. That's my favorite song off the last album, hope you like it as well."

PH: "Fucking hate it when you know how a tune you just played is shit. I hate that. You can blame them. Ha ha ha." He's referring to the 'cunts in yellow', of course.

_Turn_

BS: "Okay, this is one called _Turn_."

Another obvious appearance of pre-recorded vocals at one point.

PH: "[mumbles] Oh, they've brought in the big guns now. Yay hey! We're all bullied at school, you know."

_Bizarre___Love___Triangle_

BS: "Cheers, Shelly. All right, that's...that's enough of that fucking rocky stuff. Hate it when someone gives me a microphone covered in vaseline, wonder where it's...where it's been. Okay, this is Bizarre Love Triangle...[tremendous cheering]...talk on the subject...while we're on the subject."

A couple more cries of you know what...

_True___Faith_

BS: "Okay, this next track...er, we've had a lot of hell with this track. This re...we're gonna play partially the remix, and er, it was remixed by a group not too far away from Liverpool called K-Klass...oi, who? K-Klass, K-Klass. This is..."

PH: "Forgot what it's fucking called..."

BS: "True Faith, True faith."

BS: (at end) "Thank you!"

Some piano keys, too.

_Temptation_

BS: "Okay, this is my all-time favorite New Order song, it's called Temptation."

At end...

BS: "Cheers, thank you. It's a good song that one, you know [something]..." We've gone all...all night without mentioning Wayne Rooney. You got any Portugal fans here. All right, we don't want to end on a sour note, do we? Any Manchester United fans here? [they really take that poorly, as one can imagine]. It's a good job we did the last...last, last glasses in New Order, innit?" (can't 100% parse the last night).

_The___Perfect___Kiss_

Fully realize they resurrected it for the fans, so I won't be too harsh on it. This version may be a grower.

This song segues into _Blue___Monday_, which mixes Kyle's "set me free" vocals mixed it.

BS: "Cheers, thank you Liverpool, we always love playing here, and it's the truth, it's not bullshit. Thank you, good night."

A few minutes between main set and encore. Fans clap loudly, and finally the group come back on.

_Ceremony_

PH: "Thought for one minute you might have gone then. We come back, we know fun(?) here. Always wrong."

BS: "Sorry that took so long. Phil decided that was a good time for a shit for some reason. I would've waited a bit longer, meself."

Hooky goes apeshit, yelling "yeaaaah!" and "come on, everyone". At 4:10 or so he says something I'd like to make out.

BS: "Thank you! Cheers, thanks a lot."

_Shadowplay_

BS: "We've kind of...kind of wrote that in Joy Division, and played it in New Order. This one was writting in Joy Division, and played in Joy Division, it's Shadowplay."

Good version, it is.

BS: "Cheers, thanks a lot. It's been great playing here. Hope you've enjoyed it as much as we have. Good night."

Phil and Hooky play an outro piece to finish up.

NO: 14 JUL 06 Vinas Viejas - Boardilla del Monte (Madrid) Spain

Writeup based on FM broadcast carried by Radio 3 in Spain.

_Crystal_

BS: "Cheers, thank you very much. Thank you!

_Regret_

BS: "I can tell you're gonna be a great audience already. And it's only the first song. All we need is a litte bit of enthusiasm, we won't give it back."

BS: "Cheers, thank you."

BS: "Eh, Jerry, can I(?)..."

(obscured by announcer who talks over Bernard's comment)

_Ceremony_ is interrupted on the broadcast by, of all things, a Moby song, which is inexplicably faded into the chorus of that song, which features Hooky singing along quite loudly. What's really strange is that it sounds like the broadcaster kept an open mic throughout this song, as you can hear talking in parallel at several points.

Announcer talks, but there will be no denying being unable to make out what Hooky has to say, as his ire seems directed to some obnoxious individual attempting to take pictures in the pit area.

PH: "Just because you got a camera, you think you own the fucking place. Go on, piss off!"

BS: "Okay..."

(some guitar twiddling)

PH: "That's better, innit, just me and you. Isn't that better, eh?"

_24___Hours_ follows.

Bernard's vocals pretty quiet in the mix.

BS: "Thank you!"

More announcer chatter.

_Love___Will___Tear___Us___Apart_

PH: "I'd like to dedicate this to you lot..."

[rest unintelligible due to that blasted announcer, but he says something about "loving all of you"]

PH: "Oh, I'm gonna love you too."

BS: "Okay, this is Love Will Tear Us Apart, a song by Joy Division."

Hooky once again yells, "Here we go, Steve!"

More announcer explaining

Feedback squall/guitar stumming.

_Working___Overtime_

BS: "Okay, we're gonna try a new song out on you now. It's from our last album, and it's called Working Overtime. And it goes like this... One-two-three-four."

Hooky works overtime on delivering the chorus here. Best version of this so far.

BS: "Thank you, it's nice to have a bit of anarchy in the set."

More announcer chatter.

Bernard continues.

BS: I don't mean as in the Sex Pistols, I mean as in the possibility of fucking up. That's what life is all about."

_Transmission_

BS: "This is Transmission."

The annoucers (turns out there's two of them) seem very estatic about it.

Keyboard bit in between.

_Your___Silent___Face_

BS: "Okay, we're gonna chill things out a little bit now (one of the announcers goes 'yeah' in response), with a song off...er... I think it's off Low-life or one of those albums, it's called Your Silent Face."

Bernard shouts at the end.

_Waiting___For___The___Sirens___Call_

BS: "Here we go, all right's, that's..." [again, obscured by the announcers...]

BS: "...song off of our last album, Waiting For The Sirens Call. Very moody."

Bernard yells for the backing vocals to be turned down between verses, and puts emphasis on the word "Spain" for the benefit of the audience.

Yet more announcer chatter.

_Turn_

BS: "Okay, this is the guitartastic part of our set, and we're going to play a very guitar-heavy song..."

_Bizarre___Love___Triangle_

BS: "Okay, that's enough guitars. No more guitars. (Announcer: 'no mas guitares') Now we're gonna play some dance tunes for you, starting with Bizarre Love Triangle. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do."

_True___Faith_

Phil plays a bit of scales on the piano.

BS: "This is True Faith"

Hooky (and Phil) try something different here, and it actually sounds really good.

BS: "Cheers, thank you!"

The announcers

_Temptation_

BS: "Okay, this is Temptation. Or, as they say in New Zealand, Timp-tation"

(At end)

BS: "Thank you, cheers, that's it folks. Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. It won't be difficult. Thank you, good night."

Announcer goes on for quite a bit about Ian Curtis and Joy Division.

PH: "Haven't got much time, we really can't do the build-up of tension.

BS: "Guess what, we're doing an encore!"

_The___Perfect___Kiss_

BS: "Okay, this is a song that we've not played in a long time. About five days being that..."

Great, now we get a female announcer who also decides it's good to talk over the intro."

This version is, again, surprisingly good. The band (sans Hooky of course) may be going through the motions at this point, but the arrangement is quite pleasing to the ears...but is cut off by the stupid broadcast, argh!

NO: 15 JUL 06 Anilla Olimpica - Montjuic (Barcelona) Spain

Writeup based on ATR audence recording.

Intro is the Ennio Morricone's "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly."

_Crystal_

BS: "Hi, Barcelona. We're New Order, and it's great to be back here again (Alex: "Is it? Fuck.) If it's good enough for Freddy Mercury, it's good enough for us. This is Crystal."

BS: "Yeah! Woo. Cheers, thank you."

Shout out for "We All Stand".

BS: "We're knackered as well."

_Regret_

BS: [playing on all the cheers for the name of the group]

"Yes, we are New Order, very good spotting it. This is Regret."

(at end of song)

BS: "Yes, thank you. Muchas gracias."

_Ceremony_

PH: "[coughs] Ah ha ha ha ha ha. I want to dedicated this one to Chris York. Thanks for looking after me, Yorkie. And, happy birthday, old bastard."

BS: "Yeah! Woo. Cheers, thanks a log."

Calls for "We All Stand" again. "Alex, We All Stand!".

_24___Hours_

BS: "Okay, this is 24 Hours. A song by Joy Division played by New Order."

Alex says something at 2:53..."They just started playing it", I think.

_Love___Vigilantes_

Guitar and melodica tuneups.

BS: "Okay, all right, all right, all right. This song starts with a melodica obviously, I've got one I'm carrying now. And, it's one of those rare things in life, it's a pro-war song. It's called Love Vigilantes."

(at end)

BS: "Cheers, thank you. Of couse, it's not a pro-war song, it's not a pro-war song, I was only joking." [someone shouts for 'Alex'] "If you can still joke abou those things in this terrible age that we live in."

_Working___Overtime_

BS: "Okay, we're gonna try a song that we've not played that often. It's bit of a rocky one, it's called Working Overtime, and it goes just...like...this."

More beg-Barney, take-the-piss cries for 'We All Stand'.

_Transmission_

BS: "Cheers, thank you."

Lots more chants.

PH: "I'll have you (?) when it's not."

_Krafty_

BS: "This is Krafty"

BS: "Thank You."

_Your___Silent___Face_

Singing "Manchester la-la-la..."

BS: "Okay, this is You're Silent Face. We'll stop saying 'okay'. Okay? This one's for Bobby."

Bernard comes in late into the second verse, causing a weird reverb effect on his vocals.

People start chanting for Jarvo.

_Bizarre___Love___Triangle_

BS: "Okay, this is the danced-up part of our set, and we're starting it with Bizarre Love Triangle."

_True___Faith_

BS: "Will someone turn the iPod off, that's going on on the other stage. Okay, this is True Faith."

Hooky comes up with a really good bass intro for this version.

BS: "Cheers, thank you! Muchachas graciassass. [yes, he simulates echo!]

_Temptation_

Punters call for "Stephen" and "Sunrise, Sunrise, Barney, c'mon!".

BS: "Okay, this is er, one of our all time classic songs. I know there's a host of them...[mutters: 'getting...'] Temptation.

BS: "Yes, thank you. Thank you."

More cries for "Stephen".

_Love___Will___Tear___Us__Part_

BS: "Okay, I'll just wait for Hooky to tune up. I'm afraid this is the last one in the set. We've played for fucking ages, c'mon! We don't normally play this long, but for Barcelona, we make special gift for you. This is Love Will Tear Us Apart."

Hooky cries, "Here we go Barcelona!" at about the two minute mark.

And a "Here we go, Steve" from him at the three minute mark.

BS: "Cheers, thank you. You've been a fucking great audience. As I said, thank you very much, you've been a great audience. I can see what Freddy Mercury saw in Barcelona. Good night. Adios!"

Lots of chants from the UK contingent for "Nuorder"...

They're only off for a minute, as you can hear guitar at the 5:00 point.

Then the crowd in general starts doing a football chant...

_The___Perfect___Kiss_

BS: "Thank you." [bass notes] We're gonna play one more...more song for you. Okay, this is Perfect Kiss."

Hooky mutters something at 3:50...something about getting tossed out...

_Blue___Monday_

Segue from previous track.

(at end)

BS: "Cheers, thank you. We've had a great night, I hope you have as well. Barcelona, you're fucking great. Good night."

NO: 02 SEP 06 Stradbally Hall Estate (Electric Picnic) - Ireland

FM broadcast (DIME seed) missing first four songs performed, with Love Vigilantes being faded in on this particular capture.

Luckily, we have a complete audience recording to fill in the gaps.

Alan Wise handles the introduction here.

AW: "...Steve. Right, I see a few familiar faces. Do you know that just across the sea, fifty years ago, four mop-headed lads from Liverpool...was it?...decided to change the face of music. And here they are, in Dublin, the Beatles. Sorry, New Order!"

BS: "Hope you're going to enjoy the set tonight, we've ridden in especially for you. Let's start with a song called Cristal [pronounced French-style]"

At the end, Hooky makes quite a strange pronouncement, even by his standards.

PH: "Now how you do you know that she was actually going to grant me a big wish. You took my fairy away."

BS (speaking through Hooky): "Cheers, thank you."

_Regret_

BS: "Okay, this is a little wrong...a little song that that went wrong in the Eighties and it's called Regret."

Mic gets knocked between 1:25 - 1:30, with the stereo field shifting as a result.

BS: "Cheers, thank you."

A bit of hard riffing afterwards, whilst Bernard tunes up.

_Ceremony_

BS: "Okay, sorry about that, I was just tuning up. I'm very professional these days. The next song we're gonna play was written in the last two weeks of Ian Curtis' life, and er, it was actually written with the guys in Joy Division, but we've always played it as New Order. This is Ceremony."

_Twenty__Four___Hours_

BS: "Okay, so good so far. Have to bear with me a little bit, I'm not very well tonight, that's not why I'm jumping about as much as normal. I need a bit of sympathy! [people groan] I feel terrible, honestly. (The) things I have to go through."

First line is very low in the mix, and some of the other lines of the first verse can barely be heard.

BS: "Thank you! I know you're filming it for TV, but can we, eh, kill the lights a little bit. We're trying to get a bit of a vibe going up here. Who gives a fuck about the TV?"

PH: "Just kill that light, maybe, that big one up there, mate. Thank you. That's a lot better."

Chants after _Love___Vigilantes_.

_Waiting___For___The___Sirens___Call_

BS: "You know, now a change the time there(?) on the song. Jason? Okay, this is a song of our last album called, the album is called Waiting For The Sirens' Call and the track is also called Waiting For The Siren's Call. You might notice a recurring theme there somewhere."

BS: "Cheers, thank you!"

_Transmission_

BS: "Okay, we're really gonna rock you up now with a track called Transmission."

BS: "Cheers, thanks.

PC: "Thanks a lot."

Then the sound of a guitar lead getting unplugged.

_Krafty_

BS: "Okay this is, uh, bringing it up a bit more up-to-date, this is a track off our last album, whatever the fuck that was called, and it's called Krafty. Just can't sell stuff, y'know. My record company want me to, but I just can't put my heart into it. Buy it if you like it, if you don't, fuck it up."

_Your___Silent___Face_

BS: "Okay, we're gonna chill out a little bit now with this one. Well, a bit. And off the... that, we're gonna build it up again to a raucous ending...of course, that's what we do...this is Your Silent Face."

Idiot announcers leave their mics open, so you can hear every bit of clatter. At the end they comment, "not a dry eye in the house".

Some interesting 'orchestral' keyboard samples.

BS: "Thank you, Jerry. Right, that's all the rock shit over with. I don't mean shit, you know, I mean, like, like like, they say in New York, shit as in good, like bad, you know like we say it's bad? I mean it's good you know, I should have said it's good, I'm embarrassing meself now."

_Bizarre___Love___Triangle_

BS: "Okay this is Biz...bloody Bizarre Love Triangle, bloody Bizarre Love Triangle."

Annoying voiceover..."the windows are shaking now".

And another one after the song, telling folks they have a sister broadcast...

BS: "Cheers, thank you."

BS: "Cheers, thanks a lot. I know it's corny to say it, but is everyone having a good time? If you're not, I'll give your money back personally. I'll announce my name and address at the end of the show."

_True___Faith_

BS: "This is True Faith."

A couple of glitches during this song (broadcast version).

Announcer voiceover at end, talking through Bernard's pronouncement.

BS: "Cheers, thank you! You know what, we were gonna drop that one as well. Maybe we'll keep it in the set."

_Temptation_

BS: "Okay, this is my favorite New Order song, it's called Temptation.

PH: "Okay, out goes the Sugababes, then..." [can't make out the rest]

Bernard laughs.

(afterwards)

BS: "I could have sworn that was it. Most bands, that's all that they would give you, I tell you. But we like to think that we're a little bit different."

PH: "Just a quick dedication before we go, I'd like to congratulate Kelly Osborne and Matty on their marriage today, but don't tell her Mom and Dad because they're gonna fucking kill her."

_Love___Will___Tear___Us___Apart_

BS: "This is Love Will Tear Us Apart, we want you to sing on the choruses, please."

Lots of exhortations, including one for Kelly.

BS: "Cheers, thank you! I was gonna say 'Dublin' but i guess you're from all over Ireland. You're a fucking gerat audience, and we're definitely come back, might be twenty years, but we'll definitely come back. Thank you!"

BS: "Cheers!"

Announcer: "Do you want me to fill? Okay, Bernard is wearing a grey hoodie, and Hooky has been wearing black, playing his bass dangling around his ankles with a pool cue. Stephen is looking very sweaty now, his shirt is open to his navel. Someone's coming on with some bits of sponge. Now, it's the magic sponge there. Okay, some sort of argument here. Misunderstanding. Andy...okay, we've another sponge now. And there goes the shirt, ok? Ah, Stephen's topless now. Crowd are having none of this, they want them back on stage..."

PH: "See, Wes just said to me, then he said, "Fookin' 'ell, Hooky, don't you know it's a quick turnaround. That's fuckin' rock n' roll, innit, a quick turnaround? Yes!"

Stephen drum crash.

Announcer: "Ah, the cat's out of the bag."

BS: "We've got a slight problem, we can't find our guitarist. Oh he's there! You blue bastard."

PH: "Ha ha ha ha, you ain't get that scarf caught in the scaffolding then, did you, Phil? Ain't holding you back.

BS: "The problem is, he's only semi-pro. The rest of us turned professional a long time ago."

_The___Perfect___Kiss_

BS: "Okay, we're gonna play a song for you now we've not played very often live for a long time, eh, we used to play a lot live, but... and it was called 'A Perfect Kiss'."

PH: "What's your friend called?"

Cuts off right at the start of the seque to _Blue___Monday_, go figure. However, the audience recording is complete.

BS: "Cheers, thank you."

Hooky finishes off with the BM bass melody.

BS: "Thank you everyone, good night, God bless and be careful out there."

Fans call out for 'One More Tune' but are denied.

NO: 09 OCT 06 International Centre - Bournemouth

Shouts of 'New Order' and 'ooky!' greet the listener of this recording.

Intro is Ennio Morricone's "For A Few Dollars More".

The group take the stage.

_Crystal_

BS: "Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa. Hullo. Hi. We're New Order. I think's it's been round about eighteen years since we last played in...er, whereever we are...Bournemouth. Hopefully we'll gonna make up for that tonight by playing a top set up here. Okay, here we go. Join in if you want."

(at end)

BS: "Cheers, thank you."

There's a guitar riff here that sounds familiar but I can't place.

_Whos___Joe_

BS: "Okay, we're going to do a track off of our last album now, it's called Who's Joe."

The live debut of this song.

BS: "Cheers, thank you."

Some more guitaring.

_Regret_

BS: "Okay, this is a hoary old chestnut that's we're...that's fallen down from the chestnut tree, it's called Regret."

BS: "Muchas gracias."

The crowd are heard chanting the group's name.

_Ceremony_

BS: "Thank you. Can anyone play guitar? Are you in are out(?).

PH: "You have to shout just one ten decibels louder. Don't have a fucking heart attack. For you, this is 24 Hours."

Hooky may have either been making a sardonic joke or honestly misspoke.

BS: "It's a good song that, but it does sound a little bit like an ice cream van in the middle, you know, the break?"

BS: "Okay."

PH: "You lot are going to have a fucking heart attack. It's like an orgy of daft dancing. Fucking hell, I thought I was embarrassing, you lot take the fucking cake."

_Waiting___For___The___Sirens___Call_

BS: "Okay, this is Waiting For The Sirens' Call."

(at end)

BS: "Thank you. That's one of our favorite songs, that one."

A familiar voice shouts for 'Age Of Consent'.

PH: "I wish I could hear what pearls of wisdom you were saying." [chuckles] Stop fucking waving at me, you're like a mink."

_These___Days_

BS: "Okay, we're going to play a song for you now that we haven't played... there's an even bigger gap between us playing this song than between us playing here in Bournemouth. In fact, probably, possibly, although I could be lying, the last time we played it was probably with Joy Division, and it's called These Days."

In fact, the last time was at Derby on April 19th, 1980.

BS: "Thank you. Life was so simple in those days, and so were the songs."

Some guitar tuning.

_Transmission_

BS: "Okay, this is Transmission."

_Krafty_

BS: "Thank you. Sorry about the feedback. Oh, how angry we were in those days. Very angry. Don't know (what) about, but we were. But, now, we're much more pleasant chipper chaps. And this is Krafty, a very optimistic song."

(at end)

BS: "Cheers, thank you! Thank you. Jerry, can I have a little bit more on my voice please, just a tad, top pole(?) please. Sarge, can I have another drink as well...please, you don't get breathalyzed at gigs here, do you?"

_Your___Silent___Face_

BS: "All right. Are you enjoying yourselves, so far? [cheers] Okay, we are, but you got to realize that this our first gig in a long time, and we're still warming up to that peak...the peak of the set. [keys] So after Transmission, we need to chill a litle bit, so this is Your Silent Face."

lyric: "So why don't you..." Fans shout, "Piss off!" Bernard replies, "That's right!"

BS: "Cheers, thank you."

A keyboard melody.

_Bizarre___Love___Triangle_

BS: "Cheers, Jerry. All right, that's gone through all the Joy Division bit, and the new bit, and now what we're gonna play is some dance tunes for (you). But there's a few bald heads out there, hope you don't mind me saying so, we all got our own hair. So hope you're still up for a bit of dancing, if you know what I mean. This is Bizarre Love Triangle."

(a few seconds into the intro)

PH: "Go ahead, Andy, c'mon lad."

BS: "Voila...voila..."

Hooky's bass is off kilter between the first and second verses (before the first chorus).

BS: "Cheers, thanks a lot. Get me a wheelchair."

_Temptation_

BS: "Right, I don't know about you, but I'm a little bit out of breath after that. And you know you have to give as good as you get. So on the next one, you're doing the fucking dancing, all right? Else, we'll give you your money after the show [cymbal] Hang on a minute, I got that wrong. No, we'll make you pay on your way out, that's all we need. Twice. All right, this is Temptation."

(after)

BS: "Cheers, thank you."

Fade out/in on the recording.

_The___Perfect___Kiss_

BS: "Okay, we're gonna...gonna keep it a bit on a dance. Let's face it, we're all fucking past ours now, aren't we. Hey, Hooky. ...of our age."

PH says something I can't make out, not replying to Bernard, something like "give me a minute, Joe."

BS: "We might have owned a club, but we're sure let(?) this club for you. All right, all right, this is The Perfect Kiss."

Mic gets bumped at 1:34 and the recording becomes muffled for a period of time afterwards, until about 3:14.

TPK segues into _Blue___Monday_.

Some Kylie samples in there too.

BS: "Cheers, thank you very much. Black power!"

And the main set ends, the punters finding that last bit very amusing.

(encore)

BS: "I don't know which hand signal to give...that, or..."

_Shadowplay_

BS: "This is probably why people used to call us miserable cunts, this song. ...I'm older, I can understand it really. Yo."

(at end)

BS: "You sounded like you're fucking auditioning for Deep Purple then, Phil."

_Love___Will___Tear___Us___Apart_

BS: "Okay, this is Love Will Tear Us Apart. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do."

PH: "See you in 25 years then."

BS: "Thank you Bournemouth. I'm very sorry we left you so long. There must be a reason, but I can't think of it. Thank you, you've been a great audience, cheers, thanks for having us, good night!"

Fans chant, "we want more"...but the band is done.

NO: 11 OCT 06 Carling Academy - Newcastle

Ennio Morricone's "For A Few Dollars More" is the intro music here.

_Crystal_

BS: "Yo yo. Hello, Newcastle! Sorry it's been so long since we last played here. But it's good to be back. Eh, hope you enjoy this concert as much as we do, we're going to start the set with a song called Crystal."

(at end)

_Regret_

BS: "Cheers, thank you! Wooh! Cheers, thank you very much. Okay, er, we're gonna play an oldie but goldie, it's called Regret."

BS: "Okay, thank you".

_Ceremony_

PH: "Watch your ticker, you...fucking hell."

BS: "Cheers, thank you."

PH: "You are out, aren't ya? [laughs]."

Some guitar stumming/tuning here, as well as whistles and shoutouts.

_Whos___Joe_

BS: "Okay, this a track off of our last album, which was called Waiting For The Sirens' Call, this is a track called 'Who's Joe'."

(at end)

BS: "Cheers, thanks."

More tuning.

_These___Days_

BS: "Okay, that song is the second time we ever played that live...live. So you have to bear with us. This next song, is a Joy Division song, is called These Days, and we've only played this twice as well, so will be special when we play it tonight for you."

BS: "Cheers, thank you!"

_Transmission_

Fans shout out the band's name.

PH: "We know!"

BS: "Transmission. It got me 'round, this one."

(at end)

BS: "Thank you!"

_Krafty_

BS: "Cheers. We might play a couple of Joy Division tracks tonight, but we're going to play something up to date. This is Krafty. Cause you can't live in the past, you know."

After the song finishes...

BS: "Yeah, thank you! Woo!"

_Waiting___For___The___Sirens___Call_

BS: "Hey, we're gonna chill it out a little bit now. Sort of, in a different way. This is 'Waiting For The Sirens' call', the title t rack off of our last album."

_Your___Silent___Face_

Whistles.

BS: "Anyway, that was a new one. We're not allowed that song. So we're now going to play a song featuring a melodica. It's called 'Your Silent Face'."

_Guilt___Is___A___Useless___Emotion_

BS: "Okay. We've been through our rocky set...rocky bit...we've been through our mellow bit, now we're gonna play for you dance tunes up here. So you all hope you fucking dance up here in Newcastle. Have you ever made it to Glasgow, they could dance...alright [can't make out this bit]...as good as it gets(?)."

BS: "Oi, oi, this is a new track, it's called Guilt Is A Useless Emotion."

Hooky's bassline mimics the heartbeat on the LP version.

_Bizarre___Love___Triangle_

BS: "Thank you. That was actually the first time we ever played that song live. So we were a bit scared, you know, but seems to have gone down all right...keeping it on the dance tip, this is _Bizarre___Love___Triangle_.

BS: "Woo! Whoah!"

BS: "Thank you, thanks very much, one of our favorite songs, that. Obviously that bullshit or will come out anyway..." [can't quite make this part out]

_Temptation_

BS: "Okay, folks, hang on, this is my all-time favorite New Order song , it's called Temptation."

Lots of audience participation here.

BS: "Thank you very much, good to see you getting into it all, especially the people in the, er, terrace or whatever it's called, the circle(?). Thank you!"

_The___Perfect___Kiss_

BS: "We gonna keep our dance vibe, this is The Perfect Kiss."

Segues into _Blue___Monday_

Hooky mutters something that has "That ruined...fucking...", can't make out.

BS: "Cheers, thank you very much! Goodnight. Thanks, you've been a great audience, good night!"

The Order leave the stage for several minutes, but come back on for a two-song encore.

_Shadowplay_

PH: "We preferred the old days when we didn't do 'em, fuckin' hell, life was much simpler then."

BS: "Hallo Hallo Hallo Hallo. Okay, since eh, they shot...Joy...a film about Joy Division this year, and we've actually seen bits of it, and it's quite apt to play a couple Joy Division track, so we'll start with Shadowplay."

_Love___Will___Tear___Us___Apart_

BS: "Right, this is the last song we're gonna play, and it really is the last one, and we want everyone to sing...to join in the chorus, especially the people up there, because I've noticed they've not been moving around as much as the people down here....and they played less than you did over there...I can't hear this guitar, Damien.'

Hooky yells, "Take it away, Steve!" before the bridge.

BS: "Cheers, thank you very much! It's been fantastic to play here. Hope it won't be so long next time. Thank you, good night!

NO: 16 OCT 06 Empress Ballroom - Blackpool

Recording courtesy of Schoff.

The intro piece is Ennio Morricone's "For A Few Dollars More" with the band played before coming on throughout the 2006 UK dates.

_Crystal_

BS: "Yo. Hello. Jerry, turn the gerry(?) down a little bit, please. Hi, we're New Order, obviously, and before we start, I can't fail to mention how much I enjoyed Section 25 tonight. It's been a long time since we played with those guys and I thought they were fantastic. However, this is Crystal.

(only a few people cheer)

BS: "C'mon, you can do better than that!"

The louder cheers obscure Bernard's following comment, "I hear Germans got flowers for Manchester." or something like that.

The last time NO and SXXV had played together was back at the Preston Guildhall on October 22, 1985, well over 20 years prior.

BS: "Cheers, thank you!"

The chants start.

BS: "Cheers, thanks a lot!"

_Regret_

BS: "Okay, we're going to go straight to Regret now."

(at end)

BS: "Cheers, thank you. Just chill out a little bit at the front please, we've only just begun. If you're killing each other now, just wait until the end of the set."

More chants.

_Ceremony_

BS: "Okay, we're going to attempt to play Ceremony now. Before, we played it...last few gigs, we're not sure where it is on the, er, guitars. If we get it wrong, we'll just start again...you know, punk style."

PH: "Old age, it's a fucker, innit. Hello, Twinny, you out there, man? Salford!"

_Who's___Joe_

BS: "Cheers, thanks a lot! And if you'll excuse me tonight, I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself...I've got...I've got tonsilitis or something, my singing's a bit worse than it normally is, which is pretty bad. However, you seem like a good audience to me, and I'm sure you can make up for any shortcomings by singing along on the chorus. This is a track off our last album, it's called 'Who's Joe'."

_These___Days_

BS: "Cheers, thank you very myuch. I know we got these old classic tunes, but you got to allow us one or two new ones. You know, you've got to look, as well as looking back, even it doesn't really sell good. However, after just saying that, we're going to play an old Joy Division song called 'These Days'."

_Twenty___Four___Hours_

BS: "Thank you. Woo! Okay, after my little speech about playing new stuff, we're gonna play another old one. This is 24 Hours."

BS: "Thanks very much, thank you."

More chanting. Bless.

_Krafty_

BS: "Okay, back to the future now. This is Krafty."

BS: "Thank you, cheers!"

BS: "Thanks a lot. It's great to be hear in Blackpool. Obviously, we... we all come down here in the summer for the holidays, it being just down the road from Manchester. So next summer, look about the streets and you may see one of New Order, in the amuse...bloody out in amusement arcades. Honestly, I'm not taking the amusement out of you(?)."

_Waiting___For___The___Sirens'___Call_

BS: "Okay, this is Waiting For The Sirens' Call."

BS: "Thank you, cheers. Let's not get too carried away guys, so leave some...[can't make out] Calm down.

_Your___Silent___Face_

BS: "Okay, um, next on my set list I have it written down you see, is a track we call (you can have that) eh, KW1, which is short for Kraftwerk One, which we thought it sounded a bit like Kraftwerk when we wrote it. It's actually called Your Silent Face."

During the intro, Bernard comments, "It features the melodica."

Hooky ends it with bass playing.

_Guilt___Is___A___Useless___Emotion_

BS: "Okay (clears throat). Well, that's the comteplative part of the set, and eh, what we're gonna do now is switch into dance mode, so we want all the people in the back to really get into this, but we want all the people in the front not to, to keep really still. Now, I'm only joking. Eh, this is a song off our last song, and it's called Guilt Is A Useless Emotion."

A little bit different with Hooky's opening bass riff, which doesn't seem to fit the song. Maybe he was echoing the heartbeat that's present in the recorded version (which also is present here at the end).

BS: "Okay, the next song is _Bizarre___Love___Triangle_."

BS: "Cheers, thank you!"

Some Phil riffing

_Temptation_

BS: "You okay? Okay, so you really got to fucking into it now, cuz this is our best song. It's called Temptation."

The chants start again...

_The___Perfect___Kiss_

BS: "Okay? (clears throat) Great. (coughs) Can't think of anything to say, really. Except that this is The Perfect Kiss."

Segues immediately into _Blue___Monday_.

Includes a bit of TPK as well as Kylie.

BS: "Cheers, thanks a lot. You don't want this microphone. Thanks a lot, Blackpool. Sorry it's been so long. Goodnight!"

(encore)

_Turn_

PH: "Ha ha!"

BS: "You're lucky, we never used to do encores. How, how times have changed. This is a track called Turn."

_Shadowplay_ follows.

BS: "Very macho that track, innit? Little bit of the bug side from me. The next track is very beautiful, it's Love Will Tear Us Apart, it's our last song tonight, so pr... with us."

And with that, _Love___Will___Tear___Us___Apart_, in its current bar-band singalong, makes its appearance. Plenty of c'mons to be had.

BS: "Cheers, thank you very much. We better go out and start to sell ...older. Good night, thanks a lot, see you again in like 20 years, bye bye."

NO: 18 OCT 06 Academy - Glasgow

Intro is Ennio Morricone's "For A Few Dollars More".

BS: "All right, Glasgow."

BS: "Hello."

BS: "Just noticed this shirt, it looks like a bird shit on my shoulder. Don't let it put you off."

_True___Faith_

BS: "Ok, this is True Faith."

Unusual for this to be the opening track.

BS: "Cheers, thank you. Thanks a lot."

_Regret_

BS: "Okay, this is Regret."

PH: "You knew that was coming, didn't you? You knew!"

_Ceremony_

BS: "Thank you. Look how bright it is. It's like being in Boobs(?)."

Unusually, Hooky's vocals are louder than Bernard's during the choruses.

_Whos___Joe_

BS: "Thank you! Okay new, we're gonna play a slightly new song now, hope you can take it, hope we can take it, it's called Who's Joe."

(at end)

BS: "Cheers, thank you very much."

_These___Days_

BS: "Okay, the next track is called These Days."

BS: "Cheers, thank you. Yes, of course, a Joy Division song, These Days. We've only played it about, mmm, five times really, which is quite a lot.

_Krafty_

BS: "Okay, the next song is Krafty."

BS: "Cheers, thank you.

Chants of the group's name and Hooky's (in that order).

A bit of tuning.

BS: "Okay, this is a track off our last album, the album is called 'Waiting For The Sirens' Call', and this track is my personal favorite off it, it's called "Waiting For The Sirens Call". Not very imaginative, I know. But perfect..."

BS: "Cheers, thank you!"

More guitar tuning. And football chants.

_Your___Silent___Face_

PH: "Have we got a chiropractor in the 'ouse? Anybody want to come up and do my fucking back. You don't look like a chriopractor to me. Can't fucking move."

BS: "Muchas gracias."

_Crystal_

BS: "And now, Crystal."

An unusual midset position for this song.

BS: "Thank you very much, cheers. It not sound...cheers?...[something I can't make out]

_Guilt___Is___A___Useless___Emotion_

BS: "Hello. Okay, eh. Thank you, Crystal's one of our favorites, and we're gonna hop the set up a little bit with a few dance tunes. This is a song off our last album which is called Guilt Is A Useless Emotion. Which is true."

BS: "Thank you, cheers."

_Bizarre___Love___Triangle_ follows.

BS: "Thank you."

BS: "Fuckin' 'ell, any more of that's gonna kill me. If I die on stage guys, carry on without me."

_Temptation_

BS: "'k. Feed up with announcements of songs, so we'll just start it. It's a bit corny, anyway.""

(...)

BS: "Thank you, cheers."

Fade out/in.

_The___Perfect___Kiss_ follows, which segues into _Blue___Monday_.

BS: "Cheers, thank you very much, Glasgow. Sorry, we're a bit knackered. But thank you very much, cheers, good night!"

This concludes the main set.

BS: "I'm sorry about the delay, but we're coming back. There's been a dreadful accident backstage. Peter got his foreskin caught in his zip."

OUCH. Bernard continues.

BS: "Very painful. You get the girls in the audience won't know unless you've done it before."

_Transmission_

Hooky starts to play the intro to Shadowplay, but Bernard says, "This is Transmission." Then Hooky briefly starts in on the Transmission intro.

BS: "What you...wait...what you want, Transmission, or Shadowplay. Wait, wait a minute. Do you want Transmission? [loud cheers] Do you want Shadowplay? [quieter cheers, a few no's] Don't look at me. It's up to Hooky."

Hooky adds a bit more of the Shadowplay bassline.

PH: "You have to excuse me tonight, I've got Alex's back. You bastard."

ATR: "I see how you've learned to play your thing here."

lady mate: "Alex, what do you do to him?"

_Love___Will___Tear___Us___Apart_

PH: "Eh, this is for you, Alex. It's all your fault."

Indeed. :)

BS: "Well, I can't say thank you any more, I've run out of thank yous. We'll see you again tomorrow night, because I'm sure it's all the same people. Goodnight, thank you."

NO: 19 OCT 06 Academy - Glasgow

Recording from 'Digital Mike'.

Brief break right before the Ennio Morricone "For A Few Dollars More" backing music.

_Crystal_

BS: "Hello. Guess who we are. Last time I checked, we were New Order. We're here to do our second night, in Glasgow. We hope you were as good as the audience were last night. There's a bit of a competition going on."

Some strange chants that sound like "beefcake", but is really "UK".

BS: "Cheers, thank you."

_Turn_

PH: "I just want to say a quick thank you to this man over here, Howard, putting me back together again when me back was fucked. Old age is a bastard, innit? Thanks, Howard."

BS: "Jerry, just turn the (?) down a little bit, please."

BS: "Cheers, thank you."

Fans chant the band's name.

_Regret_

BS: "Okay, this is Regret."

_Ceremony_

(at end)

BS: "'k you. Cheers! (Anything?) was wrong with that one."

_Whos___Joe_

BS: "Okay, and those two classics, Regret and, er...Ceremony, we're gonna bring you bang up to date with Who's Joe off of our last album."

BS: "'k you. Cheers!"

_These___Days_

BS: "Okay, we're gonna play a Joy Division song for you now. I'm sure there's a few Joy Division fans here. It's called These Days and it sounds very muffled(?)."

BS: "Muchas gracias. I say that because I'm on holiday in Spain tomorrow, so I thought I'd try the lingo on you Glaswegians. I thought if you could understand it, the fucking Spanish could. Was it mean?"

_Krafty_

(at end)

BS: "'k you, woo! It's a good one, even though it's new."

_Waiting___For___Sirens___Call_

Okay, this is (?) stay on our album, Waiting For The Sirens Call, which is...the title track."

BS: "Thank you. It's one of my favorite songs. So is the next one, funnily enough. This one features a synthesizer that you don't have to plug in, apparently."

_Guilt___Is___A___Useless___Emotion_

BS: "Thank you, cheers. This is the part of our set where we stop being introspective, and we all want to get into it a little bit more. This is the part of our set where we all wanted to dance. We're not playing just to come here for nothing. This is Guilt Is A Useless Emotion."

(at end)

BS: "Thank you very much. See what I mean? I need to get a bit of my boots again on stage. Thank you very much. I will refrain from using expletives."

_Bizarre___Love___Triangle_

BS: "Okay, the next one we're gonna play for you, that was one of our most recent dance track called Guilt Is A Useless Emotion. The next one is Bizarre Love Triangle."

_Temptation_

BS: "Hey, you two, stop all that tomfoolery. We're a serious group. Okay, are you enjoying it so far, Wooah, that's not very enthusiastic! All right, sounds like we're gonna have to help you up a little bit, who wants my sweaty towel? [The fans boo here.] Okay, we got a crowd killer here, it's called Temptation."

BS: "Thank you! Wooo! I'm gonna stop doing that. Cheers, thank you."

Fade out/in.

_The___Perfect___Kiss_

BS: "Thank you very much. It is a pretty good song, isn't it. And I'm quite a modest guy. Okay, still more to come...not much, but there is some more. This is The Perfect Kiss."

Which segues into...

_Blue___Monday_

BS: "Guess what this is?"

BS: "Thank you very much. Cheers!"

punter: "You can send a copy to Alex for 50 quid. He got picked up..."

Some other chatter here not worth reproducing. :)

_Shadowplay_

The band came back on to some strummed bass notes.

BS: "Oh. Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa, hello. We've only come back for the lovely drink onstage. I'm only joking."

Bass notes to the song hover menacingly over the proceedings.

BS: "Okay, this is the oldest song in our repetroire, Shadowplay."

_Love___Will___Tear___Us___Apart_

PH: "Thanks again, Howard, for making life worth living. Allright, [can't hear a] fookin' [word you're sayin']."

BS: "Cheers, thank you, you've been a great audience. We appreciate you as much as you appreciate us. Thank you, good night Glasgow!"

NO: 27 OCT 06 Wembley Arena - London

Thanks go to skyscraper for sharing his recording.

Ennio Morricone's "For A Few Dollars More" is the opening backing tape.

_Shes___Lost___Control_

BS: "Hello. The band that needs no introduction. Guess who we are? Well tonight, for you, we're Joy Division. Not the whole set, but certainly a few. This is She's Lost Control."

_Shadowplay_

BS: "Cheers, muchas gracias. Jerry, turn down the voice a touch, turn the PA down a touch, the PA."

The cymbals at the start are very loud in the mix.

BS: "Cheers, thank you."

_These___Days_ follows.

PH: "You shake your mou...I want to dedicate this to you, Gary. Saved me fuckin' life yet again, mate, thank you very much."

_Transmission_

Atmosphere

BS: "This is Atmosphere."

_Waiting___For___The___Sirens___Call_

BS: "Okay, we're going to start to introduce a few New Order songs now. [Can't make out next sentence except for the words 'Joy Division']. So we're gonna bring it 'round to today with a song called Waiting For The Sirens' Call."

BS: "Thank you."

_Ceremony_

BS: "Okay, this is Ceremony."

_Whos___Joe_

BS: "Okay. We're gonna play an extra-long set for you tonight. That's right while we're pacing ourselves at the start of this set, you know, Gonna find our mojos later on. Whatever mojo is. Anyway... which brings me swiftly around to our next song, which is 'Who's Joe'."

BS: "Okay, this is Crystal."

(at end)

BS: "Thank you! Cheers."

_Regret_

BS: "Okay, this is Regret."

_Guilt___Is___A___Useless___Emotion_

_Bizarre___Love___Triangle_

BS: "Okay, this is Bizarre Love Triangle."

BS: "Cheers, thank you! [coughs]"

_Temptation_

BS: "Fuckin' hell, where can we go from there? Oh yeah, a little number called Temptation."

_The___Perfect___Kiss_

A bit of a pause between numbers.

PH: "I wish I could hear you. [laughs] I really do. If you believe that, you believe anything. Ready, Phil?"

The moaning woman sample makes a reappearance!

TPK segues right into _Blue___Monday_. The Kylie sample's handled a bit differently than normal, as well as the outro synth. Good to hear some variation.

BS: "Cheers, thanks for all of us. Thank you!"

_Love___Vigilantes_

BS: "I'm sorry it's been so long, but we couldn't, em, couldn't decide what to play for the encore. Primarily because we've run out of songs... Even though it's been a long and tedious career. But we haven't run out of songs."

BS: "This is Love Vigilantes. It's a Cornwall(?) song."

BS: "'k you!"

_Turn_

BS: "Hi, this is Turn, boys. All right, don't bother with enthusiasm. Just because it's a new one. It's a good song, so get into it."

_True___Faith_

BS: "Thank you. I think we've got only one song left in the whole wide world, yes, we have one, but we're going to play this one, it's called True Faith"

Missing from the skyscraper version.

(at end)

BS: "Thank you, that's it folks! This bog(?)-pretty long set. Thank you for coming out all the way to Wembley. It's fucking miles away, we didn't realize it. Now I apologize to you personally, and if you bump into me on the way back, I'll give you your money back. Otherwise, thank you, good night!"

NO: 29 OCT 06 Civic Hall - Wolverhampton

New Order take the stage to fans shouting their name.

_Crystal_

BS: "Audience, audience. Okay, this is Crystal."

_Turn_

BS: "Okay, this is a track off our last album. The album is called 'Waiting For The Sirens' Call'. This is Turn.

BS: "Cheers, thank you!"

_Regret_

BS: "Audience, audience. This is Regret."

_Ceremony_

Bit of the riff before Bernard starts talking.

BS: "Okay, this is a song that we wrote in the very last days of Joy Division. We wrote it two weeks before Ian died. It should have been called 'Funeral' but it was called Ceremony, excuse my dark humor."

PH: "This is for all."

_Whos___Joe_

BS: "Okay, this is a track off of our last album, and it's called 'Who's Joe'."

BS: "Thank you!"

_Transmission_

PH: "Wot?"

BS: "Okay, that was a newie but a bluey."

Hooky says something I can't make out and laughs.

BS: "We're going to play an oldie but a goldie now."

(at end)

BS: "Thank you. That was Transmission for each and all of you."

_Krafty_

BS: "Okay, bang up to the future now with Krafty."

BS: "Thank you!"

_Waiting___For___The___Sirens___Call_

Guitar strums.

BS: "This is the title track of our last album, it's called Waiting For The Sirens' Call, and it's actually about death...or [can't make out the rest]."

Some interesting variations here.

lyrics: "To the door or through the door."

lyrics: "First to Wolverhampton and then to Spain..."

_Atmosphere_

BS: "Thank you. One of most favorite songs, that. But so is this."

(at the conclusion)

BS: "Tres thank you!"

_Guilt___Is___A___Useless___Emotion_

BS: "Okay, talk about talking twos, we've gone from Atmosphere to a dance tune. Let's hope it works."

Has gravelly Hooky bass riff.

BS: "Thank you"

_Bizarre___Love___Triangle_

BS: "You ready. We ready? Everyone ready? C'mon Phil! [something]"

Hooky puts together an original bass riff during this song.

(at the end)

BS: "This is Jerry, our sound guy. A big hand for him for the ..since this is his last night tonight...[something] him on it.

PH: "Well, I don't know if you've won it or lost it there, Jerry. He's going working for fucking Primal Scream."

BS: "Okay, give him a boo. Leave him."

_Temptation_

BS: "Okay, this is Temptation."

Brief cut out at 4:47.

BS: "Thank you. This is our last UK show actually. The first part to showcase the mini-tour. And after this, we're going to go to a horrible place called Brazil. Just to get away from the winter, you know this, right? Well, it was either that or eh, a farm off of Scotland or Iceland, so we drew lots out...[can't make out the rest]"

_The___Perfect___Kiss_

BS: "Anyway, this is our song called The Perfect Kiss."

Which segues into _Blue___Monday_ which features string pads from TPK, as well as Kylie's la-la-la's and set me freeee's.

BS: "Thank you, good night!"

About a five minute break between set and encore, with a couple of blokes talking loudly, apparently to a female that they befriended, at least on the recording I have.

_Love___Will___Tear___Us___Apart_

BS: "We've come back because we forgot to play two songs [something]."

Female punter says that she was in the gym. Oh-kay.

This one obviously features...guitar, and is Love Will Tear Us Apart."

BS: "Andy Liddle, make sure we can see the friggin' streams over here."

PH: "What's that all mean, anybody know?"

Female punter: "I can take your number if it's easier, actually."

PH: "No no, ah, there we go. What was it? What is it? Speak to me!"

Bernard says something.

PH: "You don't know fucking what."

The usual "c'mons" for the audience, as well as Hooky exhorting Steve.

Some guitar noodling between tracks.

_True___Faith_

BS: "Okay, there's one more song that we forgot to play tonight. It's True Faith. We want you to sing on the choruses, even the people on the celphone there."

As well as more noodling during the intro.

Quite a good version, actually.

At about 5:18, Hooky says, "Over to you, Roy."

BS: "Cheers, thank you. And thanks for buying our records for all these years, we do appreciate it. Good night!"

Somebody shouts for another encore.

BS: "Cheers."

Hooky ends it all with a couple of bars of Age Of Consent.

NO: 10 NOV 06 - Ginasio Nilson Nelson, Brasilia

Ricardo had the following comments:

>Sam, thanks for putting this up. The Brasilia concert was in a >gymnasium, which isn't the best in offering adequate acoustics, but it >was a good gig anyway.
>
>There was a VIP area in front of the stage for people who have paid >the most expensive tickets, journalists and guests, like the Vikings >and me. I got a photo pass but was almost kicked out the place by >Sarge for taking too many pictures. We were only allowed to photograph >the first three songs and I tried to keep photographing after this. >Apparently, Bernard was annoyed with that. Oh, well. >
>I know who is the guy who shouted "Same old shit!" and "We don't speak >Spanish!" during "Crystal". It was, erm... Me! Being drunk and staying >next to Alex in most of the gigs, I guess you will have to hear my >shoutings a couple of times more.
>
>My favourite quote of this gig: "Such a fucking short fuse, such a >fucking big mouth, man". Peter Hook said this to Julio Moura, who was >screaming and jumping in front of him during all concert. >
>It's interesting to note that Bernard played guitar on "Blue Monday". >I think it's the only recent gig where he did that.

Recording courtesy of the renowned Alex.

Chants of the group's name.

Intro is the Ennio Morricone song used throughout the 2006 autumn dates.

_Crystal_

BS: "Buenos Nachos. We are New Order. We're New Order, it's great to be here in Brasilia. It's great to be in Brazil. Sorry we left it so long, but we got really, really fucked up last time, we're just recovering. We're gonna start the set to night with a song called Crystal"

Somebody (see above) loudly yells, "Same old shite!"

BS: "Cheers, thank you! Muchas gracias!"

Somebody (also see above) yells, "We don't speak Spanish!" twice. I doubt if Bernard really cares.

_Regret_

BS: "Okay, thank you very much. Hope you're enjoying this as much as we are. This is Regret."

(at end)

BS: "Thank you!"

Some stumming. Someone calls out for Love Vigilantes, guessing correctly that would be the next song up.

_Love___Vigilantes_

BS: "Okay this is a track, it's a very anti-war song, and it's called Love Vigilantes."

BS: "'k you!"

Fans call for "Joy Division" and "Mr. Hooky".

_Ceremony_

BS: "Okay, this is a very old song of ours. It's called Ceremony."

(at end)

BS: "Muchas gracias!"

BS: (to sound techs) "...Shove(?) a delay in the voice, quite a lot." Could you take the wire off the guitar as well."

_Whos___Joe_ follows.

BS: "Thank you."

There's a bit of electric guitar chordage.

_Transmission_

BS: "Okay, this is...even though it's an old song, it's called Transmission, it's a Joy Division song."

BS: "'k you."

BS: "Dave, a bit more compressor on the voice, please."

_Krafty_

Okay we're gonna bring things bang up to date now. [clears throat] This is a track off of our last album, it's called Krafty."

BS: "Thank you, turn the bass synth...bass sequencer down a bit please, it's [something]..."

Punters yell out for SLC. Not this time. In fact, some enterprising soul calls out for AoC. Not going to happen.

_Waiting___For___The___Sirens___Call_

BS: "Okay, this is off the same album. In fact, this is my favorite song off the album, it's called Waiting For The Sirens' Call. It's about the sea."

BS: "Thank you. Dave, can you put the compressor back where it was, and I can only hear each snare drum...Steve...[can't make out rest]."

_Atmosphere_

Someone cries out for 'These Days'.

PH: "Well, this one's for you, Todd. For such a fucking short fuse, you're got such a fucking big mouth, man. This one's for you. Really? Are you ready, my... One two three four."

There's a weird ghostly effect at the start that's quite interesting.

At the end, folks prematurely start calling out for BLT. Not quite yet.

_Guilt___Is___A___Useless___Emotion_

BS: "Right, let's give this one a go, shall we? This is a dance tune."

During the middle of the song, Bernard mic-checks, "One two".

_True___Faith_

BS: "Dave, try taking a bit of bottom end off of my voice, please. Oh, no no, oh, it's True Faith, how strange."

People start yelling out for Dream Attack. Like that's gonna happen.

BS: "Okay, we'll if we're gonna give it away then, this is True Faith. In a very strange position in the set."

Nice funky guitar riff at the start.

_Bizarre___Love___Triangle_

BS: "Thank you! Thank you. Er, this is Bizarre....Love Triangle."

_Temptation_

BS: "Okay. This is Temptation."

More "Mr. Hooky"s. Fade out.

BS: "Thank you. It sounds all right now."

Fan calls out for SLC a few times. Nope, soory.

_The___Perfect___Kiss_

BS: "Are you all having a good time?"

People cheer the aggressive bass synth part.

TPK segues into _Blue___Monday_

BS: "Yes, thank you, good night!"

The band leave the stage.

At some point during the encore break everybody starts chanting, "Love, Love will tear us apart again".

_Turn_

BS: "Thank you. Thank you. [mutters something, and then strums his guitar].

PH: "No, tried it. Tried it."

Ricardo notes: "It was also me shouting "Whatever you fancy" at the end of "Turn". People were calling out for "Dream Attack" and "Love Will Tear Us Apart" and I was taking the piss out of them."

_Love___Will___Tear___Us___Apart_

More chants for LWTUA. And the band deliver it.

PH: "Okay."

(after song finishes)

BS: "Cheers, thank you very much, good evening!"

Somebody still calls out for Dream Attack.

Then Hooky finishes out the set with a beautiful coda on his bass, with folks chanting "Peter Hook, Peter Hook" after he finishes. And then the recording fades out.

NO: 11 NOV 06 Mineirao Stadium - Belo Horizonte

Judged to be by far the worst of the 2006 So. American dates.

Some background, by rafernandes:

Ah, Belo Horizonte. Easily the worst gig of the South American tour. New Order were the headliner of a festival organized by a local radio station. The Minerao stadium (one of the biggest of the country, with a capacity of 72,000 seats) was full of teenagers who went to the event to see the other bands, a bunch of Brazilian Blink 182 wannabes. New Order were even booed by the crowd when they were announced on the PA system one hour before their performance. It was an announced tragedy.

At least half of the 40,000 people present left the stadium after seeing O Rappa, a kind of Brazilian equivalent of Asian Dub Foundation. There were sound problems from the very beginning until the end, as you can notice by listening to Bernard's comments during all the gig. The band soundchecked in the afternoon, but the whole concert sounded like a soundcheck in front of thousands of people."

Again, we have Ennio Morricone's "For A Few Dollars More" playing as the band come out on stage.

Somebody blows something like a horn along with the song.

_Crystal_

BS: "Hello, we're New Order. And we finally made it to Belo Horizonte. Don't ask me what took so long, it's a hard place to get to. This is a song called Crystal."

Bernard comments "programmed drums, programmed drums" at about 4:39.

BS: "Thank you! obrigado!

BS: "Ah, Dave, it's not bad, but all clear(?) with the kit is the snare drum. You need to get to the rest of the kit as well. You need to put a little bit, just a little bit of top on my voice."

The taper can be heard to tell Bernard to shut up. Lest you suspect that the comments to the roadie aren't actually 'real', but are just there to give concertgoers the 'authentic' New Order experience, it seems the sound was sub-par during the first part.

_Turn_

Bernard calls out "snare" at about 0:55.

BS: "Cheers, thank you. Okay, that's fine, just a snare down a little touch."

The taper's associate says "Hey man, soundcheck sucks", with the taper also agreeing, "Fucking, fucking soundcheck."

_Regret_

BS: "Okay, we're going to go back to an album of ours, that wasn't actually a very happy time for us, it was a bad one. But we got a great song out of it, this is Regret."

BS: "Thank you, cheers!"

_Ceremony_ follows.

(at end)

BS: "Okay that's fine, just turn that fill down a little touch."

BS: "Okay, is everybody enjoying themselves? [folks generally give their assent, but Bernard detects some lacklusterness in their response]

BS: "Yeah? Yeah?" [cheers]

BS: "No?" [boos]

BS: "Woo..." [woos]

Okay, we can't please everybody all the time, can we?"

_Whos___Joe_

BS: "Okay, we're going to play a song off our last album, and it's called Who's Joe."

Afterwards...

BS: "'Q. Sorry about the rain, we're used to it from England. Uh, Dave, just watch the top syns, watch the top syns. Yeah, on this number give me a touch more guitar."

_Transmission_

PH: "[chuckles] Well, I dedicate this one to my son Jack who's watching back in England. This one's for you, Jack."

The bass intro slows down and speeds up again.

PH: "Europe, mate?"

Some guitar...

PH: (while Bernard starts talking again): "Is that a get..."

_Krafty_

BS: "Okay, we were going to play a song called These Days, but now we're not everybody, because we played that instead. What we're gonna play next is a song off our last album. In fact, it was a single, it did very well...not everywhere in the world, really, apart from here, probably. And it's called Krafty."

Seems to be a bit of an issue with the drum backing at the start...as you can hear a string 'hit' (like what would get used on Blue Monday) that's out of place here.

BS: "Cheers, thank you."

A long pause, someone blows a horn...or is it a melodica?

punter: "Git in there, son. I've started Love Vigilantes..."

More soundchecking from the stage.

_Waiting___For___The___Sirens___Call_

BS: "Okay, this is a track that's called 'Waiting For The Sirens' Call'."

BS: (at 0:36) "Bass synth"...indeed, you can't hear one at all.

_Your___Silent___Face_

BS: "Top line synths down."

BS: "'Q. Okay, the snare drums, the electronic snares."

_Guilt___Is___A___Useless___Emotion_

BS: "One two, one two." (continuing the theme of soundchecking)

BS: "Thank you. Okay, this mike sounds a little bit little. Can you... well, just turn it up a bit, let's try it again."

_Bizarre___Love___Triangle_ follows.

BS: "Too much bass drum."

BS: "(0:25) A bit more snare drum, snare drum." You can hear fans mocking him with 'Bass drum, bass drum'.

At 1:48, Bernard introduces Alexis...who sings on the second chorus, sounding pretty dire, I'm sad to say. Alex says something in Portugese between 3:25 and 3:30. Bernard replies, "Yes".

(at end)

BS: "Thank you, Alexis."

Alexis: "Thank you Bernard", followed by more Portugese.

BS: "Thank you, Alexis, again from Manitu."

Here's what rafernandes has to say about that:

"Things got even worse when Alexandre Maia, lead singer of the Brazilian reggae band Manitu, joined New Order on stage to sing "Bizarre Love Triangle", a song which has been covered by his band. Besides being out of tune, he also asked the audience to spin their t-shirts around the air. It was cringeworthy to say the least. I was actually embarrassed to see that."

_Temptation_

BS: "Okay, this is another song by us called Temptation."

BS: (at 2:31) "Some...some bass on the bass drum".

BS: (at 2:49) "Turn the bass drum down!"

BS: (at 4:53) "I don't think I've ever met anyone like you before. Heeeey!. I don't think I've ever met anyone like you before. Sub bass."

BS: "Thank you! Cheers. Thank you. Seems we've got a lot of sub-bass on the bass drum, on the bass drum..."

Faded out/in at this point.

_The___Perfect___Kiss_

Pretty good guitar work here.

Segues into _Blue___Monday_.

Kylie's "Set me free" sample can be heard at 5:21.

BS: "Cheers, thank you, good night!"

Fans chant "New Order" after the band finish the main set.

_True___Faith_

PH: "You're very...you want what? You have to speak up, I can't hear you."

BS: "This is True Faith."

At 0:59 Bernard says "Piano, piano."

_Love___Will___Tear___Us___Apart_

BS: "Thank you, this is the last song we're gonna play for you tonight, this is Love Will Tear Us Apart."

BS: "Thank you so much for coming here. Goodnight, everyone. Thank you!"

PH: "Goodnight, [can't make out the rest]"

BS: "Cheers, everybody."

NO: 13 NOV 06 Via Funchal - Sao Paolo

Intro music is Ennio Morricone's "For A Few Dollars More".

BS: "Hello. We are New Order. And you are Sao Paolo. Let's have a party!"

BS: "I don't mean about it, it's not about me anyway. Please welcome my assistants, Mr. Peter Hook, Stephen Morris, and Phil Cunningham, the sounds like: "Moswald Twister" [drum crash].

_Crystal_

BS: "Okay, we're going to start the proceedings tonight with a song called Crystal."

BS: "Thank you!"

_Turn_

BS: "Cheers, thank you. This is a song off our last album, it's called Turn."

BS: "Obrigado!"

_Regret_

A bit of guitar, with a person near the taper saying "Regret"...

Bernard than mutters something to one of his sound techs..."just a little bit" is all I can make out.

The singer says "Backing track" at 1:35.

BS: "Thank you."

BS: "Okay, that's got the sound's fucked(?), she's gone a little bit out of tune or... Thank you. And thank you photographes, you've done a wonderful job tonight. We do appreciate it. Without you, we'd be nothing. Thank you.

BS: "I think that's it then, three songs. Everyone's leaving. What's going on? I'm sorry you can't stay longer, I really am. I prefer if you came at the end of the set. You're gonna miss the best bit, you know."

_Ceremony_

Hooky's backing vocals are really loud in this.

BS: "Thank you."

_Hey___Joe_ follows.

BS: "Thank you!"

_Transmission_

BS: "Obrigato. I'll give a thousand dollars to whoever can count the number of sheer thrills(?) in our songs..." [can't quite make this out]

_Krafty_ follows.

Fan cries out "Steve Morris."

BS: Could possibly be one of my...short film(?)...to go, Rick...always got one of mine...."

_Waiting___For___The___Sirens___Call_

BS: "Okay, going to chill things out a little bit now, because you can't be full on all the time in life, and we like to reflect that in our songs. This is Waiting For The Sirens Call...a track on that one please."

BS: "Thank you. We're sorry to influence you on a B minor. But partially, Phil's a little bit ill tonight. He's does not feel himself, really. Normally, such an apple jack(?), but tonight, Phil's not feeling very well. He's not well at all, really."

_Your___Silent___Face_

BS: "Okay, this is Your Silent Face."

(at end)

BS: "Muchas gracias. You know, I know how to speak Portugese here, just in case you don't have ai... from the rest of the set...couple words I can't make out] ...learn Portugese for the rest...I know I got it written down here... [drum crash]"

BS: "You don't have a clue what I'm saying, don't you, but that's the way I like it."

_True___Faith_

PH: "Yes, love."

BS: "This is True Faith."

BS: "'k you!"

_Bizarre___Love___Triangle_

PH: "Fuckin' hell, you're a pushover, you, aren't ya. Ths one's for Emily and Gerald wherever they may be."

BS: "Woo! Thank you. Cheers. It's a good song, innit. Thank you. Thank you Sao Paolo. It's great to be here again. I don't know if anyone's noticed, but I think my microphone is feeding back. Has anyone noticed? It's a never ending array of disappontments(?)." [or does he say 'these moments'?]

_Temptation_

BS: "Okay, this is Temptation."

(at end)

BS: "Snare drum. Fat cymbal, eh."

Fade out.

_The___Perfect___Kiss_

Fade in.

'Someone' calls out for Age Of Consent.

BS: "Okay, is everyone having a good time? Good, that's all we're here for. Even me. I want to dedicate this song to a girl we met tonight, she's called Grace. [people 'ooh' for the obvious reason]"

Segues into Blue Monday.

_Blue___Monday_

BS: (2:47) "Feedback!"

BS: "Obri...[mutters] Obrigado, Sao Paolo. Thank you, Good night."

Break between main set and encore at this point.

BS: "You can see that white train to [sounds like: Nilo]..."

_Shes___Lost___Control_

BS: "Does anyone out there speak English? Everybody? Okay, we're going to play a Joy Division song next, but we don't know which song to play. Put your hand up if you want us to play Shadowplay. Put your hand up if you want us to play She's Lost Control. [SLC wins the voting].

Bernard than says something about "wait for this...faster." at the start.

_Love___Will___Tear___Us___Apart_

BS: "All right, I'll tell you what's wrong with Phil now. I wouldn't do that. This is Love Will Tear Us Apart [whatever he says after is obscured by the crowd yelling]. We'd like to dedicate this song to our promoter, Felipe Gonzales, who we've known for 20 years or more, it's his birthday today, give him a round of applause. Let's see you, Felipe."

The usual exhortations of "C'mon" and "Everybody!" appear here.

Hooky yells, "C'mon Steve, show us!"

BS: "Thank you very much! I hope you've enjoyed it as much as we've enjoyed it, you've been a fantastic audience. The best in the world. Good night. Cheers, big ears."

NO: 14 NOV 06 Via Funchal - Sao Paolo

Intro music is Ennio Morricone's "For A Few Dollars More".

_Crystal_

BS: "Hello, Sao Paolo. We are New Order, obviously. And we're gonna play our hearts out for you tonight. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do. We're gonna start with Crystal."

BS: "Thank you!"

_Regret_

BS: "Okay, this is Regret."

BS: "Thank you! Woo! You take the track down a bit, especialy the [can't make out]."

_Ceremony_ follows.

BS: "Obrigado."

_Twenty___Four___Hours_ follows.

_These___Days_

BS: "Okay, does anyone like Joy Division here? Have you heard of Joy Division here. Did we sell any records here, we don't know. Well, this is a little spot in the set where we're...we're gonna play Joy Division tunes. This is what we've not played very often until recently, and it's called _These___Days_.

_Transmission_ follows.

_Krafty_

BS: "Okay, that's it for that Joy Division stuff for now. We're going to bring things bang up to date. This is Krafty."

BS: (at 0:15): "Bass sequencer."

_Waiting___For___The___Sirens___Call_

BS: "Okay, we're gonna play another song, which is called Waiting For The Sirens Call."

_Your___Silent___Face_

lyric: "So why don't you...", pausing for the crowd to yell 'Piss off!' with him going, "That's right!"

BS: "Thank you! Woo."

Bernard strums, and then talks to his sound tech.

BS: "Turn this up a little bit, distorted...[something about 'mic position'?]

_True___Faith_ follows.

BS: "Hey!"

_Bizarre___Love___Triangle_

BS: "Thank yoooouuu!"

Fans chant the band's name.

_Temptation_

BS: "Where could we possibly go after that one? It's obviously very popular in South America. This is a little song called Temptation."

BS: "Thank you. Obrigado. Nice, obrigado...this is what is written on the lyrics screen here. Is everybody having a good time?"

Fade out/in.

_The___Perfect___Kiss_

Segues into _Blue___Monday_

Ends with slow Hooky bassline and synths.

BS: "Thank you Sao Paolo. Good night. You've been a very good audience. Good night!"

Encore break.

_Atmosphere_

BS: "Okay. We are going to, uh...we are going to play a Joy Division song for you or aren't we [something]...all right, don't...maybe we should do something else then."

Someone cries for Atmosphere.

BS: "Atmosphere. Yeah, yeah... Atmosphere. Eye-an Curtis. Eye-an Curtis."

(at end)

BS: "Cheers. Thank yoooouuuu!"

_Turn_

BS: "Thank you good night!"

More chants for the group. Apparently they went off and came back on as there's a couple minutes of audience shouting, etc.

BS: "Thank you, Sao Paolo. You've been a fantastic audience. I hope you've enjoyed it as much as we have. Good night. Obrigado!"

NO: 16 NOV 06 Vivo Rio - Rio de Janeiro

Intro features the Ennio Morricone backing used throughout the 2006 autumn gigs, the taper here quite nicely provides it in full.

_Crystal_

BS: "Hello. We are New Order. We're in Rio. Which we love very much. You're gonna enjoy the set as much as we are. This is Crystal."

(after)

BS: "Thank you! All right, thank you. Yeah. One two, one two, one two."

Some git keeps chanting 'New Order'.

_These___Days_

BS: "Okay, we're going to play a Joy Division song for you now, and it's called These Days."

BS: "Obrigado!" ('thank you' in Portugese)

_Transmission_

Both Bernard and Hooky have a go at the vocals near the end.

BS: "Thank you."

_Krafty_

(at end)

BS: "Woo! 'hak you. I think that worked so well because of the sheer volume of the drums. At least for me anyway. [someone shouts "C'mon Barney lad!"] Okay, we're gonna do a bit more laid track...laid back...track now, I can't get my words out. But it's nice seeing someone here from Longsight anyway. It's nice to come all the way to Rio in Brazil and see someone from Longsight. Longsight is a place in Manchester. Erm, it's not like Rio, that's the best I can say, but at least we're United Fans."

Ricardo notes that you can see that individual and his flag here: http://rafernandes.multiply.com/photos/photo/19/34

_Waiting___For___The___Sirens___Call_

BS: "Okay, this is Waiting For The Sirens Call."

Bernard changes the lyrics about catching a midnight train, first to _Rio_ and then to Spain.

BS: "Thank you. My drum machine(?) is a bit weird. Now I'm not saying it's your fault, that's not the point. Just listen to it, and see if you can get in one big tom...the snare drum."

_Your___Silent___Face_

Somebody claps throughout the first part of the song.

BS: "There goes that tom again, do you hear it? Play that tom again, mate. Okay, apparently it's no one's fault, so...it's just Turn, is it not? Is it Turn?"

_Turn_

BS: "It's a song called turn off our last album. Turn, won't ya?"

Song seems to abruptly come to an end.

A bit of piano, like for the intro

Fans chant the drummer's name.

BS: "Speech, they say. No, Steve. They're calling for you Steve, would you like me? Okay..."

_True___Faith_

BS: "Okay, this is True Faith."

Some girl starts screaming.

Odd noise at 4:32.

BS: "Thak you. 'k you Dave. Fingers crossed."

Hooky also mutters something off-mic at this point.

_Bizarre___Love___Triangle_

BS: "Thank you."

_Temptation_

BS: "Okay, this is Temptation."

BS: "Obrigado!"

Fade out/in.

_The___Perfect___Kiss_ segues into _Blue___Monday_, and the Brazilians go hog-wild.

Before the second verse, BS: "Turn the wedges off, turn 'em off!"

BS: "Thank you, good night! Cheers!"

(encore break) A few minutes while fans clap for the group to come back on.

The band come back on, with bass and guitar tuning bits.

_Shes___Lost___Control_

PH: "No, we're not doing that tonight, are we? Sorry. Can't win 'em all"

BS: "This is called He's Lost Control...She's Lost Control..." (ouch)

_Love___Vigilantes_

Melodicas Gone Wild.

BS: "Thank you! Good night. Cheers, two drinks, no waiting."

Another encore break, with huge chants for the group.

_Love___Will___Tear___Us___Apart_

BS: "We never know when we'll play this in the set, but for real, we'll make a special exception. What I mean by that is we don't play normally, but normally we do play it. You'll have to excuse me if you don't understand my Portuguese, it's not very good. This is Love Will Tear Us Apart."

PH: "Thought you could start without me, you little bastard? Yeah, this one's for you, the fucking lot of ya, yeah!"

Hooky yells "C'mon" really loudly. And then does it again, and does his "All right, Steve!" bit. And then Bernard gets into it saying "C'mon everybody, c'mon everyone, join in, lad" and then screeches!

BS: "Obrigado! Obrigado. Thank you very much Rio, you've been a fantastic audience. we've really enjoyed playing for you. Hope you've enjoyed it as much as we have. Good night, this is the last one! [fans cheer for more] No, that's definitely the last one, good night!"

NO: 18 NOV 06 Club Ciudad - Buenos Aires

Recording taken from MP3 of FM broadcast as well as from various audience sources.

On the FM version, the tracks have been edited to remove the announcer chatter, which seems to excised most of Bernard's pre-song comments, so as a result all the tracks feature fade-ins. Any between-song comments are taken from the other versions.

Intro is Ennio Morricone's "For A Few Dollars More".

_Crystal_

BS: "Hello. We are New Order" (cheers)

BS: "We're glad we made it here at last. We tried several years ago but couldn't just do it. But we're here tonight for you. We hope you're gonna enjoy the set as much as you do. This is a song called Crystal."

BS: "Thank you!"

_Regret_

A huge cacophony of "New Order" shouts.

BS: "Okay. Thank you. All of you. This is Regret."

(afterwards)

BS: "Thank you!"

_Ceremony_

More shouts.

BS: "Dave, it's all right, just take, em...hello? Just set Hooky down a little bit somewhere, don't know where it's coming from."

BS: "Thank you!"

No, this isn't an echo, he's thanking the crowd after every track.

_Love___Vigilantes_

BS: "Thank you. That was a vehemently anti-war song."

_Transmission_ follows.

PH: "This one's just about dancing."

BS: "Thank you, thank you. If people would just move back a bit, just move back, because we don't want anybody up front to get hurt here. We don't want anybody to get hurt, you all right at the front there? Move back, just ease back a little bit, ease back a little bit."

_Krafty_

BS: "Thank you."

PH: "You're very kind. Ready, Rutch(?)"

_Waiting___For___The___Sirens___Call_

BS: "'k you!"

_Your___Silent___Face_

BS: "This is Your Silent Face".

_Turn_

BS: "You all enjoying yourself so far? C'mon!"

Bernard then mutters something I can't make out.

_True___Faith_

BS: "This is True Faith."

_Bizarre___Love___Triangle_

BS: "Okay, watch out, it's going to be a little bit like boots up here. This is Bizarre Love Triangle."

BS: "Thank you. Andy's(?) going out of fashion now."

_Temptation_

BS: "Thank you, we're gonna play a song for you now that's probably my favorite New Order song, it's called Temptation."

_The___Perfect___Kiss_ segues into _Blue___Monday_, with Hooky riffing to close out the former song. Barney whistles a bit through the TPK intro as well.

BS: "Thank you, Buenos Aires, you've been a fantastic audience. Thank you, good night. Cheers, big ears.(?)"

The main set ends, the encore tracks begin.

_Atmosphere_

BS: "Thank you, how could we resist? Ian [pronounced "eye-an" by Bernard] Curtis lives. Well, it's funny you should mention that because this is one of his songs, and our songs of course. It's called Atmosphere."

_Shadowplay_ follows.

Well, I think we were supposed to go off at the end of that one, but I don't think we are. I think Peter wants to play another song for you. While I string this guitar. Fucking simulates is a terrible thing that."

_Love___Will___Tear___Us___Apart_

PH: "Funny atmosphere tonight. Very odd, very odd indeed."

BS: "This is Love Will Tear Us Apart, and we all want you to sing along with the chorus. I know it's a bit corny, but what the hell, let's let our hair down."

The "c'mon" count: 7

PH: (as is standard) "Give it to 'em, Steve."

and near the end...

PH: "Here we go!"

(the conclusion)

BS: "Thank you! Long live punk, and long live Buenos Aires. Thank you, you've been a fantastic audience. We really got to go now, good night!"
